URC – Round 1 Review
The opening weekend of the all new United Rugby Championship has come and gone and there were some eye opening performances and results.
Notably the Currie Cup finalists and teams that many a South African picked to perform, the Bulls and Sharks, both got comprehensively beaten by Leinster and Munster respectively.
On a positive note the Lions really hit the ground running and claimed a bonus point win against Zebre who nearly pulled off one of the best comebacks seen in years.
The Stormers had a good start but let it slip against Benetton who fought back to win it in Italy.
A mixed bag for South African fans but the first games are done and there is plenty to work on and look forward to for the SA sides. Besides the great result for the Lions, South Africans have another reason to celebrate, RG Snyman made his return from injury for Munster this weekend off the bench.
