Zebre v Lions – URC Highlights
The Lions held off a ferocious second half fight back from Zebre to win 38-26 in the opening round of the United Rugby Championship. It was all Lions in the first half, as they crossed for five unanswered tries to take an emphatic 35-0 lead into the halftime break. An early second half Lions penalty pushed the lead out to a staggering 38 points. Zebre eventually got on the board with a try after 51 minutes. Five minutes later, Zebre were awarded a penalty try, with the Lions picking up a yellow card in the process. Zebre capitalised on their numerical advantage, with two quick scores seeing the margin slashed to just 12 points at 38-26 with around 15 minutes to play. The Lions missed a late penalty which would have made it a three score ball game, but it mattered not as the visitors held on for the victory despite a valiant second half effort from Zebre.
